Story:

Searay was born into a family of merfolk supremacists. During his early childhood days, he deeply feared his father for his hateful beliefs and harsh strictness. All his life he was constantly told bigoted lies of racial purity, supremacy, and the dangers of other races. His father in particular tried to brand in his mind that those different from him are a threat. 

​

His younger sister and grandfather tried to shield him from the toxic beliefs, but whenever Searay tried to evade it or even resist it, his parents would punish him severely. Often times with physical abuse. 

​

When his grandfather passed away of old age, Searay was devastated. He found comfort from his younger sister, Baramelle, who attempted to encourage him to fight back against their family's beliefs.

​

One day, at the age of 18, Searay discovered his father had hurt Baramelle after she fought against his bigoted beliefs. Furious, he confronted his parents. A fight ensued, but Searay was not match for his older, stronger, more experienced parents. In a cruel act, they cut his hair short, and locked him away in a prison cell in their basement. They swore if he ever want against their racial pride again, they would kill Baramelle. Utterly broken from the traumatic experience, Searay lost the will to fight.

Over time, Searay began to grow hateful of marineman, other Oceanic and non-Oceanic races. Though he still did not believe in the talk of racial superiority, he stayed by his parents' sides for years, much to his sister's heartbreak. 

​

Years later, his family prepared to start a terrorist attack against the Marlin Clan. Not wanting to go to prison, Searay indirectly alerted to it by telling Baramelle. She then warned the clans and several members of Searay's family were arrested. Since they were only minor antagonists, Searay's parents were only sentenced to 2 years in prison. However, they and the other family members were sent to a highly notorious dungeon meant to break the spirits and will of evildoers.

Searay found peace with his sister for two years, but for some reason he could not bring himself to let go of his bigoted beliefs. During these two years, he met and fell in love with a mermaid named Koralyn. 

​

By the time his parents got out of prison, they were brutally scarred, weak, incapable of fighting. However, their hatred was now stronger than ever. This time, however, Searay was more than capable of protecting himself and those close to him. Realizing this, his parents decided to just ignore him from now on.

​

Eventually Searay moved away from home and found a new one in a small merfolk village. He started making money crafting items and weapons enchanted with shadow magic. He also does occasion mercenary work.

Powers and Abilities:

​​

Searay's physical strength is tremendously strong. Somewhere in the top 15% of people his age and weight. He can overpower most opponents with ease and deliver hard blows that come close to cracking bones. He has even been rumored to be able to throw medium sized sharks over his shoulder by the tail.

​

His water element has one of the rarest features ever. It is colored a deep, dark, greyish blue and can suffocate those who breathe in in. Unbreathable water elements are feared throughout oceanic races and considered dangerous to learn and use. His water is so dense it can punch through copper armor and can sharpen enough to slice small fish in half. 

​

Surprisingly, Searay is very talented in magic. He can use slight psychokinesis to move small, very light objects. His main talent is enchantment, though. Searay is fascinated by shadow enchantments. Empowering objects with dark, mysterious powers similar to phantoms, wraiths, and various other spiritual entities. Intangibility, invisibility, fear infliction, smog mimicry, and false transformations are prime examples of the powers he grants various items. He makes a living crafting and enchanting clothes, jewelry, and weapons that grant wielders these powers.

Personality

It is understandable that Searay is a very cold, disdainful, unfriendly, and edgy person. Those who approach him with unwanted intent get angry glares and warnings to back off. He dislikes people besides merfolk being friendly towards him and avoids speaking to them unless he needs to. 

​

He keeps his bigoted beliefs to himself and never outwardly expresses them in public. Everyone who knows him knows of them, though. Still, he does not let his discrimination interfere with his life and he is willing to resort to coexisting with other races when necessary. 

​

Deep beneath his harsh coldness, though, there is a pain that he wishes to be free of. Though he does not want to admit it, he truly does desire companionship and is willing to show his secret gentle side to people he really likes. So far, the only people who see this side to him are his lover Koralyn and younger sister Baramelle.
