Story:

Spade's family was once one of unimaginable pride and prestige. Not merely for their wealth and craftsmanship, but their distinct, purple skin color. An extraordinary rarity for naturman. Years ago, Spade's grandmother bonded with a marineman to bear children of the skin color. 

​

Years later, she had Spade's mother. The only child born purple. She was put under great pressure to preserve the prideful color of their family. However, once the war with the city of Edona ended, the Age of the Atmosphere began, and bloodlines and rarities were no longer considered a reason for recognition. His mother married a man in Oldhills Town and had three children. Spade was the only child born with purple skin. Things seemed well, until one night, when he was only two years old, his older brother murdered his baby sister. His brother was taken to prison, and Spade was left alone with his parents. Being so young, he was unable to process the tragic events and lived on as if nothing bad occurred.

Years later, in kindergarten, Spade noticed a child in his class choking on a piece of apple. Quickly, Spade gave him the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging the apple. The child, named Chess, thanked him for saving his life. As time went on, they both became close, best friends. 

​

With Chess's encouragement, Spade learned to embrace his rare, unusual element of acid. An element that resulted from his marineman grandfather's genes. Chess's serious nature kept Spade focused and determined to master his powers. Eventually, his father gifted him a massive blade to help focus his element. 

​

Years went by and Spade and Chess made more friends. However, new, younger warriors from the city of Edona began capturing beasts to sacrifice again. Now Spade works with Chess and his friends to defend their land from whatever threat comes their way. 

​

However, Spade makes it his mission to ensure his loved one relax and have fun once in a while. After all, life needs balance, and you can't be your best without at least a little enjoyment in life.

Powers and Abilities:

​​

Melee attacks are Spade's specialty. His speed and power are well balanced and slightly above average. If needed, he will wield his blade for a more serious fight. It is large, but light enough to wield with ease and great skill. One of his favorite moves is striking at the moment he draws the blade. An attack with tremendous agility that can lacerate and disable strong opponents in one hit.

 

Spade's element is highly unusual for his race and is a result of his mixed-race bloodline. Acid is a liquid form of the poison element more common among ocean beings like marineman. Mastering rare elements is difficult for anyone, but thanks to Chess's encouragement and advice, Spade stayed motivated to keep practicing. He can now summon streams of acid from his palms and wield it like ocean beings wield water. His skills improved even more once he learned to focus the element with his blade. It allowed him to coat his weapon in acid to shower his opponents with the burning liquid with every swing. 

​

Another strength Spade gets from his mixed heritage is strong instincts. He can sense trouble when it is looming around the area or around people. However, he and his friends are not completely aware of this ability, and when he does get that feeling in his head, Spade often has to persist to convince others of his feelings.

Personality

Spade is known by many as one side of a token where Chess is the other. He is a fun lover who enjoys a good time of games and friendly chats. He enjoys reminding others that a healthy spirit needs time to unwind and take a break from hard work. Chess often relies on him to prevent himself from exhausting physically and emotionally.

​

Still, Spade can be serious when he needs to be and never makes light of bad situations. He is a strong fighter and believes in the importance of justice. 

​

Though he smiles and laughs often, deep down Spade has secret insecurities. Since he and Chess's personalities are practically opposites, he can't help but worry if he truly sees him as a close friend or if he's secretly annoyed by his friendly, fun-loving personality. Chess's seriousness and slightly aloof vibe does not reassure him much, but his actions and words do.

Extra Facts:

Spade's scarf was a gift from his grandmother on his father's side. It is the remnants of a blanket from his infancy.

Spade's brother's name is Club and his deceased sister's name is Heart.
